Simulator
Paper Trading India
Practise trading Indian equities with ₹1,00,000 of virtual capital, on a simulator that models the real NSE cost stack. No real money, no broker, no demat account — and nothing you do here reaches an exchange.
What paper trading is
Paper trading means placing trades that are recorded but never executed in a real market. You decide what to buy and when to sell, the simulator values the position and keeps the ledger, and your capital is virtual throughout. The decisions are real; the money is not.
It is how you find out what your strategy actually does before it costs you anything — including the parts that are uncomfortable to learn with real money, like how much a round trip is eaten by charges, or how a position feels when it moves against you.
Simulated transaction charges, itemised
Most simulators ignore costs, which quietly teaches the wrong lesson: a strategy that turns over heavily can look profitable right up until the charges are applied. Finance Onyx deducts a modelled version of the full Indian equity cost stack from every simulated fill and shows you the breakdown, so the number you judge a trade on is the number after costs.
The schedule below is modelled on the published NSE discount-broker schedule. It is applied to virtual capital only.
| Component | Delivery | Intraday |
|---|---|---|
| BrokerageWhat a discount broker charges to execute the order. | Nil | 0.03%, capped at ₹20 per order |
| STT (Securities Transaction Tax)A central government tax on securities transactions. The largest single cost on a delivery trade. | 0.1% on buy and sell | 0.025% on sell only |
| Exchange transaction chargeThe exchange's own fee on turnover. | 0.00297% | 0.00297% |
| SEBI turnover feeThe regulator's levy on turnover. | 0.0001% | 0.0001% |
| Stamp dutyA state duty on the transfer of securities, charged to the buyer. | 0.015% on buy only | 0.003% on buy only |
| GSTLevied on brokerage, the exchange charge and the SEBI fee — never on STT or stamp duty. | 18% | 18% |

How pricing works here
Simulated orders are filled against a reference price resolved on the server at the moment you place them, never at a price your browser supplied — which is what stops the simulator from being trivially gameable. Charts, the pattern game and the backtester run on historical NSE daily bars.
Reference prices may be delayed or indicative, and where a figure is unavailable the platform says so rather than presenting a stale number as current. Nothing shown here is an official quote; official prices come from the exchanges.
